This past weekend I was lucky enough to spend the day and evening with two of my best friends, Jess and Katie. We were college roomates + bffs during our time at Penn State and have so many memories together. There’s just something about reuniting with old friends and picking up right where you left off the last time you saw each other that makes me feel so happy and content inside. If only they lived closer so that we could do this more often!
The day started out with a shopping trip to the outlets with Jess while Katie attended a conference for work. Shopping was a huge success! I hate when I plan a shopping day at the mall or outlets and find nothing that I want because if I’m there, I’ve already committed mentally to spending the money! But we had no problem racking up the bills this time…
Jess had a particularly great time in the Coach outlet store picking out a beautiful birthday present for herself
She ended up going with that champaign colored bag that’s front and center and I LOVE it. The pink one was a close runner up though.
After a long day of shopping (hey, spending money is tiring!) we headed back to my apartment to change and relax a little before meeting Katie for dinner in the city. We are all huge fans of Mexican food so I decided to take them to El Vez which I had been hearing great things about from several of my friends. We got there around 5:30 and there was a 45 minute wait so we decided to cozy on up to the bar and order a pitcher of margaritas. Birthday girl chose pomegranite flavored and they were DELISH.
We quickly started to catch up on lost time and before we knew it, an hour had gone by. So had several margaritas…
We ordered some of their famous house-made guacamole and more margaritas, and by the time our dinner came, we were stuffed. Shrimp + chicken tacos and a delicious corn soup were shared amongst the three of us and everything was delicious. But the night couldn’t end without a proper birthday celebration, so our waitress brought out some fresh churros with a creamy chocolate dipping sauce and we sang happy birthday to Jess
Sadly, we had to drop Katie off after that so that she could continue on with her work conference the next day. Jess and I headed back home to change into more “forgiving” clothing (aka stretchy yoga pants) and proceeded to almost immediately pass out. Shopping + catching up with old friends + drinking margaritas = EXHAUSTING.
It was so nice to spend time with these girls and when Jess left Sunday morning, I had some serious Sunday blues. It was so much fun living with them in college and having my best friends at my fingertips whenever I wanted to chat, watch some reality tv, wander aimlessly around Target or just hang out and talk about life. I’m so lucky and thankful to have them-and all my wonderful friends! Hopefully the time between this get-together and the next will go quickly
