Last week, Seth and I had the opportunity to go to Florida for a long weekend with two of our best friends, Jess and Joe. You might remember from this post that they are the ones who got engaged a little over two weeks ago! We had planned the trip back in January, but it was extra special to be able to celebrate their engagement with them. Jess’s family has a house in Ft. Myers in a golf community and it’s beautiful. This was the view we got to see each morning and evening off of their back porch.
Seth and I got in a few hours before Jess & Joe, so we rented the car and took a little tour of Ft. Myers. He’s a great chauffeur
Friday was a perfect, sunny day so the boys played golf while Jess and I laid by the pool to absorb some much needed Vitamin D. We had a visitor while we were there…
This (not so little) guy slithered right under our chairs at one point. It was terrifying. We were also treated to a very entertaining water aerobics class ! The teacher of the class was ripped; I might be convinced that it’s a pretty viable form of exercise.
After our first long day in the sun, we decided to head out for a sushi double-date. The restaurant was located in a main town center in Ft. Myers and the atmosphere was very laid back. Seth and I shared this beautiful plate of sushi and there was not a piece left when we were done. This is the stuff dreams are made of folks.
Our lovely (engaged!) hosts of this perfect Florida weekend….
Saturday we woke up to rainy conditions so we lounged on the couch alllll morning, alternating between watching HGTV home improvement shows and ID channel murder mystery shows. You can guess which ones I preferred. Around lunch time we decided to hit the outlets, where we did some serious damage. I think Seth actually made out better than I did…
He was a good sport carrying all of our bags After a long day of shopping, we decided to cook at home on Saturday night. The boys continued their bromance in the kitchen, where they managed to simultaneously cook delicious steaks AND ruin my roasted potatoes.
Dinner was enjoyed alongside these cute little Coronitas that Joe bought “by accident”. They were so cute and little!
The time finally came for us to leave on Sunday and it was sad. The plane ride home was on Southwest and was easily one of the most entertaining flight crews I’ve ever encountered. Our flight was delayed a few hours so the passengers in general were pretty grumpy. They managed to have all of us in hysterics with their one liners and dance routines before we even took off. Luckily, Seth and I got to sit together-we even had the whole row to ourselves so I could stretch out and sleep–the best!
We had such a great time and are so lucky to have amazing and generous friends like Jess and Joe. Now we just have to look forward to (hopefully!) a weekend together in Avalon this summer!
